What are the chances that 22 high school football players, many All-Americans, recruited from all over the nation; from different cities, in different time zones, with different cultural backgrounds, would all come together as one?

You may think it is perhaps ‘fate’ that played a key in this arrangement. But whatever one may think It is at the University of Tennessee, that the coaches of the Volunteers Football team; would say and still state to this day… that the incoming class of 1986 was a record achieving class of 22 players in which 17 were invited to try out for the NFL, 4 got drafted in the 1st round and one player has obtained 2 Super Bowl rings. Even outside of football, every one of these players has achieved success in their careers and family lives.

Did the coaches of UT simply find each player that equally displayed a driven ambition to succeed based on common recruiting methods, or was it mere coincidence that the class of 1986 happened to bond instantly and remain close to each other even up to this day?

This book captures the uniqueness of the rookie class; where unity was not just encouraged, but was adopted into the spirit of the players since the first day
of meeting each other. It was a spirit that drove them all to play for the same reasons and rely on each other on and off the field.  Some would say that they became like brothers, but the class of 1986 knew there was more to it than that…

Here you’ll read the interviews and stories that display the actions and trials of the teammates.  You’ll be there by their side during situations that caused their hearts to beat in unison with each other.  And you’ll see how their hearts have flawlessly fit together to create the ‘one heartbeat of 1986’ cause since
then we have never heard of a class like that one ever again… But wasn’t it the heart of each player that drew in the focus of the coaches who recruited them
to play for the University of Tennessee?

There is no other way to explain it except the class of 1986; were not only before attending, or during the time of, but even after playing for UT…“Vols for
life!”
